Who we are

Resolved is made by Hero Archetype Pty Ltd, an Australian company. We operate the Resolved app for iPhone and Android and the website at https://www.gettingresolved.app. This policy covers both, and both versions of the app: the current one (1.1 and later; 1.3.0 is the App Store version now) and the earlier one (1.0.x), which is still on some phones that haven't updated.

Resolved 1.1 and later

The current app is built so that what you write never leaves your phone. Here is everything it does with information, and nothing more.

What you write

There is no account. Your aims, Next items, wins, practices, keystones, answers, notes and plans are stored only on your device. We don't have a server that holds them, and we can't see them.

Backup

Backup is your device's own: iCloud device backup on iPhone, and Android Auto Backup on Android. It runs under your Apple or Google account and settings, and it is yours. We have no copy.

The trial

The date your free trial started is kept in the device's keychain, so deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't restart the trial. It stays on the device.

Reminders

The nightly reminder is scheduled on your phone. There is no push server. The notification says only “Tonight's ready.”, never what's due.

Analytics

The app sends anonymous analytics to PostHog and to Expo's EAS Observe, so we can see whether people come back, where the first run loses them, and whether the app is fast. What's sent:

• an ID for the installation, which isn't linked to you;
• when the app is installed, updated, opened and put away;
• in-app events, such as reaching a step of the first run, adding an aim or a practice, answering a card (what kind of card and which answer, or a score out of 10), setting the reminder, starting the trial or making a purchase;
• a few counts and settings sent with them, such as how many aims you hold, the day of your trial, and whether Tonight is cards or a list;
• the device model, operating system, app version and language;
• app launch and performance timings, such as how long the app takes to open and draw its screen, and which screens are opened;
• error reports.

Never the words you write: not your aims, notes, plans or the names of your practices. There is no session replay and nothing is captured automatically. PostHog discards your IP address and keeps only the country it came from. Development builds don't send any of it. The processors are PostHog, on servers in the United States (https://posthog.com/privacy), and Expo (650 Industries): https://expo.dev/privacy.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes payment. We never see your card details. Adapty, our billing service, receives an Adapty profile ID, your purchase, transaction and entitlement information from the App Store or Google Play, when the paywall is shown, and the basic device and app information needed to process purchases: https://adapty.io/privacy.

Install attribution

From version 1.4.2, the app uses AppsFlyer to measure which of our ads lead people to install Resolved and go on to use or buy it. It runs in the store versions of the app only, not in test builds. What's sent:

• that the app was installed and opened, with an ID AppsFlyer makes for the installation;
• two events: that you finished the first run and started the free trial, and any purchase, with the product and its price;
• device and app information: the device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, and the identifier your phone gives this app alone (Apple's identifier for vendor on iPhone, Google's app set ID on Android), plus Google Play's install referrer on Android.

It doesn't use your advertising ID: on iPhone the app never asks to track you, and installs are attributed through Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports to us without identifying you; on Android the advertising ID permission is removed. Never the words you write. AppsFlyer may pass whether an ad led to an install, a finished first run or a purchase to the ad network that showed it (such as AppLovin), so it can tell which ads work. We also give Adapty the installation's AppsFlyer ID and the attribution, so a purchase or refund can be matched to the ad that led to it. AI

No AI feature in the current app sends your words anywhere. If an optional AI feature is added, this policy will be updated before it ships, and it will be opt-in.

What we don't do

No selling data. No advertising ID. No tracking you across other companies' apps: install attribution, above, is the only measurement tied to our ads, and it never sees what you write.

Resolved 1.0.x

Versions 1.0.x of Resolved, still on phones that haven't updated, work differently. If you're on one of them, this is what applies.

Analytics and session replay

Resolved 1.0.x uses PostHog analytics, on servers in the United States. It autocaptures taps and screens and records session replays: recordings of how the app was used, with text fields masked. These are linked to an anonymous ID: https://posthog.com/privacy.

Purchases

Adapty, as described above for the current app.

Google Drive backup

You can choose to sign in with Google to back up the app's data to an app-specific folder in your own Google Drive. The data goes to your Drive, not to us. We don't receive the data or your Google account details.

AI features

The optional AI features send the text you enter to Cerebras for processing, in the United States. Cerebras states that it doesn't retain inputs or train on them: https://www.cerebras.ai/privacy-policy.

Updating

Updating to 1.1 stops all of these. Resolved 1.1 has no session replay, no Google backup and no Cerebras. It uses PostHog only for the anonymous events described above.

The website

The website at gettingresolved.app uses three services.

Analytics

PostHog web analytics records page views and page leaves, and the events of the waitlist form: https://posthog.com/privacy.

Advertising measurement

The Reddit Pixel records a page visit and a sign-up event in your browser, so we can tell whether our Reddit ads lead anywhere. When you join the waitlist, your email address, IP address and browser user agent are also sent to Reddit's Conversions API for the same purpose: https://www.reddit.com/policies/privacy-policy.

The waitlist

When you join the waitlist or the beta, your email address and your platform (iPhone or Android) are stored with Loops, our email service, so we can email you about the beta. You can unsubscribe from any email we send: https://loops.so/privacy. The same sign-up is recorded in PostHog, with your email as its identifier.

Deleting your data

The app

Delete the app, and delete its backups from your iCloud or Google account if you want those gone too. That removes everything you wrote, because it only ever lived there. We hold no copy of it, so there is nothing of yours for us to delete on our side. The trial's start date in the keychain may persist on the device after the app is deleted.

The app's analytics are anonymous: they carry an installation ID, not anything that identifies you, so we can't pick out yours. Install attribution is tied to the identifiers described above, not your name; write to dev@gettingresolved.app and we'll help you ask AppsFlyer to delete it.

The website and the waitlist

Unsubscribe from any email we send, or write to dev@gettingresolved.app and we'll remove you from the waitlist and delete the sign-up.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email dev@gettingresolved.app and we'll answer. For most people the answer will be short: for the app, we hold nothing that identifies you; for the website, at most a waitlist email address.

We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, California or elsewhere with laws like the GDPR or the CCPA, you have rights along the same lines, including access, correction, deletion, and objecting to or restricting processing, and we'll honour them where they apply. If you're not happy with how we've handled something, tell us first, and you can also raise it with the privacy regulator where you live.

Children

Resolved and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, such as a waitlist email, write to dev@gettingresolved.app and we'll delete it.

Where your data goes

We're in Australia. The services named above (Expo, Adapty, PostHog, Reddit, Loops, the ad networks we advertise with such as AppLovin, and, for the earlier app, Cerebras) are in the United States, and AppsFlyer is based in Israel with servers in the European Union and the United States, so the information described here may be processed there, under each service's own policy. Apple and Google handle payments and device backups under their own policies and in their own locations.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change matters, such as a new service that touches your information, we'll say so in the app or on this site before it takes effect.
